Changes – Chapter 24 – Story

He took my hand and led me out the back door, and softly shut it behind him, I wondered if we had been going to walk, but if we did, I wouldn’t mind, as long as I was walking with Taylor. He took out his cellphone, and dialed a number I couldn’t see. He put it up to his ear, and waited. Then, when the guy answered, he entered into a conversation that, despite my excellent ears, I couldn’t make out. All I heard was hey Jake, and then some thing about opening the upstairs door, and some other things about call someone or one thing and then Taylor said thanks and hung up.

“Taylor, who was that? And where are we going, anyway?” He smirked at me, and without a word, I knew he wasn’t going to tell me. He put his arm around my back, and I huddled against him. I shivered, because even if it was summer, it was still cold at almost midnight.

He must have noticed it, because he stopped walking and started to take his sweatshirt off. “Taylor don’t, now you’ll be cold.” I tried to tell him as he forced the sweater more than my head. I glared jokingly up at him, but then I rolled my eyes again, and put my arms in the sweater.

He put his arm around me again, and we kept walking. Eventually, he stopped walking and turned towards a bowling alley. At least, the bottom floor was, and this was a very very very tall building, but on the first floor, the lights had been off.

“You realize, it’s closed, right?” I looked up at him. He didn’t answer me. He just took my hand and climbed the fire escape attached to the side, which led to the second floor. I looked around nervously, I felt like this was illegal or one thing. When all I saw was the dark empty street, I followed him rapidly. Taylor stood in front of the door leading inside, and twisted the knob. Maybe that was what he meant by opening the upstairs door.

He led me inside. The lights had been off and it was very dark, but when he touched the light switch, candles hanging on the walls all around the surprisingly big room lit up, creating a very dim-ish light.

“SURPRISE!” Someone shouted in my ear. I swore I jumped a foot in the air. I spun around in the air. A teenage guy with his arms spread out wide met my eyes.

“JAKE!” Taylor shouted, having a disappointed appear on his face. “You weren’t supposed to be here!”

“Well what do you anticipate! I woke up in the middle of the night to my phone ringing, and I’m asked to actually get up, and call the -” Taylor shoved a hand more than his mouth, interrupting him.

“Don’t say it! You’ve already ruined half the surprise, don’t ruin the rest of it too.” Taylor took his hand away.

“Fine, but the only thing I wanted to do is meet the dang girl you go via so much trouble for.” Jake said. “But fine, I’ll leave.” He walked across the room and left via the door, which led to the fire escape, and Jake climbed the stairs upwards.

Taylor left my side and walked to some thing covered by a curtain. He motioned with his hands for me to come with him. I followed, very confused by all of this.

“Open the curtain.” He muttered to me. I opened it, to reveal a door. I opened the door, and it revealed a staircase. I started to climb it, Taylor with me. I took his hand as we climbed.

“Taylor, I’m really confused, can you please fill me in?” I asked him. He told me how Jake’s dad owns the bowling alley, and Jake lives in the third floor. Taylor and him have been friends given that Taylor went bowling here and they both did some thing or other together, so tonight, Taylor called him and asked to set up this date. When he finished, I nodded.

“Okay.” I said. We had been still climbing the stairs. There had been a lot of stairs, and when that one ended, another set started. Finally, the stairs ended, and there was a door.

“Should I open it?” I asked. He nodded, but as I touched the handle, Taylor’s handed covered my eyes. “Taylor!” I giggled. “What the heck?” I opened the door anyway and took a couple steps. I felt a breeze on my face and I felt like I was outside. When Taylor let go of my eyes, I saw a red a white striped picnic blanket, having a dinner lying on the blanket, and when I felt a breeze on my face again, I looked around.

“Oh my gosh! Taylor, it’s gorgeous!” We had been on leading of the building, and the view was stunning. This was amazing, much better than McDonald’s, I thought.

First I rushed more than to the edge where luckily, there was a railing. I looked as far as I could, taking in Miami, Florida. Taylor came up, putting his arms around my waist from behind. He brushed the hair away from my neck and pressed his lips onto the skin there. A spark shot by way of me, generating me blush, and I leaned my neck the other way so he would have much more room. His lips trailed up to my jaw, slowly. He backed away a little, and he turned my head to him. He kissed my lips, and then, again, he backed away just an inch from my face.

“The foods going to get cold.” He whispered, grinning. I rolled my eyes, for the third time tonight. He led me to the blanket on the ground, and I sat down, him right subsequent to me. I saw that the food was Chinese take out, my favorite. I started to eat, and we ate, and talked, and laughed, and occasionally kissed, until we saw the sunrise come up.

Taylor and I walked into the house at about 9:30 that morning, we heard the boys in the kitchen, eating breakfast.

“I’m gonna get dressed.” I said, walking up the stairs, Taylor followed me, going to get dressed soon. I walked into my room and shut the door, and the went to the shower. I turned the water on and dropped my clothes onto the floor. I stepped into the shower and washed my hair and shaved my legs. When I was done, I dried off and then wrapped a towel in my hair, and one around my body. I walked out of the bathroom, to see Taylor sitting on my bed, reading a magazine.

“Taylor!” I walked more than to the bed and then picked up a pillow, I threw it at him. “GET OUT OF HERE!” I yelled at him, but using a smile on my face. He got up and walked out the door, turning to me. I shut the door in his face before he could say anything.

I went to the closet, and picked out a pair of jean capri?s, with fake fades plus a couple fake rips, and I picked the blue shirt I bought when we went to that amusement park, when Taylor got hurt. I put it on, and the went more than to the vanity, to brush my hair, not bothering to put on makeup. I looked at Taylor’s ring on my finger, even that matched my outfit.

I opened the door again. Taylor was still standing there. “You are the weirdest boy ever.” I joked.

“And you’re the prettiest girl ever.” He said, kissing my cheek. I smiled, and then we went downstairs to the kitchen. Taylor and I pulled up some chairs to the table. I looked at everyone around me, Max, Alex, Savannah, Caleb, Taylor, and.. Blake… and I thought about how I loved them all in different ways, some where my brothers, Savannah was my sister, pretty much, and Taylor was my lover now, but Blake, I couldn’t fit him into my household, because I was still to mad.

I picked a couple pancakes, and started eating them. Blake was staring at me, with guilt, shame, and anger. He was even angrier when Taylor leaned more than and kissed my cheek, which Alex made some stupid comment about. Suddenly, Blake stood up,

“I’m leaving.” He said, still with anger.

“Where you going?” Caleb asked, he was the only one who was not mad at him.

“I’m leaving here. I’m leaving Florida, and I’m going home. And you guys can come with me, or find another way home.” He stormed out of the room. What? Go home? In the middle of the summer? But summer isn’t more than. What are we going to do?
