The Beach House – Chapter 8 – Story

Rian:

“I’m so red!” Valerie screams as she stands in front of the full length mirror in her room. I press my lips together and try not to laugh. I had to admit, she wasn’t overreacting. Valerie had extremely fair skin, which probably had some thing to do with all the fact that she had red hair. Gorgeous red hair, grant it, but still… it was red.

“It’s not that poor,” Briar says, trying to calm her down a little.

“Are you kidding me!?” She yells and Katie loses it, causing us all too. “This isn’t funny!” Val yells, trying her best not to laugh along using the rest of us.

Valerie had fallen asleep on the beach today, for like almost the entire eight hours we had been there and let’s just say, she got a little burnt.

“Don’t worry, we’ll rub some Aloe Vera on it and it won’t be as poor,” Addie chimes in, trying to be helpful.

“And you can borrow my army green shirt dress,” I say. “The green will make the burn less noticeable. Besides, it will appear great with your hair.”

“I’m in no way acquiring laid tonight,” Val sighs and we all crack up again. A second later Cash comes walking in the room, one hand covering his eyes.

“Is everyone decent?” He asks, and we all just laugh even much more. The sight of Cash flailing around blindly combined with Valerie’s sunburn was just absolutely hilarious to us for some reason. I walk more than to Cash and, dodging his arm, wrap my hands around his waist. He peers by means of a crack he makes in his fingers and smiles.

“What’s so funny?” He asks, wrapping his arms around me in return. I nod my head in Valerie’s direction and Cash chuckles, shaking his head. “Are you lovely ladies ready? It’s almost nine.”

“I just have to change!” Valerie replies. “Can you get me that dress?”

“Oh yeah!” I answer. “Be right back!”

Once I get to my room, I immediately start digging around in my suitcase for the dress. I toss things onto my bed in the process, hoping that it would finally force me to put my clothes away in my dresser.

“Found it!” I say as I pull the sort-of wrinkled dress out of my bag. I turn to the doorway where Cash is standing and find him staring at me using a small smile on his face. “What?” I ask, grinning in return.

“Nothing,” he says having a shrug as he uncrosses his arms and slides his hands into his pocket. “You’re just really pretty,” he adds slowly.

“You’re such a dork,” I answer and plant a kiss on his lips. After delivering the dress to Val, we go downstairs to wait for the girls to finish finding ready. One by one, everyone trickles down and then it’s just us waiting for Kiley.

“When do you think she’ll grace us with her presence?” I ask just as she comes walking down the stairs.

She’s wearing the tightest and sluttiest black dress I have ever noticed. One false move and her boobs would be creating a guest appearance. I see Brock’s jaw drop blatantly and Kelli nudges him in the ribs. Turning around, I see Cash watching her as she comes down the stairs, his mouth slightly open.

“Is everyone ready?” Kiley asks the group but no one says anything. It was like everyone had suddenly gone comatose in the sight of her slutiness. I clear my throat loudly and Cash finally snaps out of it.

“Uh, yeah,” he says and I roll my eyes. “Let’s go.”

We make it to the bonfire and the party is already in full swing. There’s a ton of people there, not only renters from the other beach houses, but also children from the surrounding towns. It seems as if this bonfire is a huge deal here in the Keys.

Cash squeezes my hand in excitement and I appear around in the scene. There’s a couple of kegs lined up near the fire, causing a large mass of people to be smashed in the center of the whole party. A giant sound system is set up farthest from the water and music is blaring from it’s speakers. Foldable lawn chairs and beach towels cover the sand, and everywhere you appear is a cooler filled with booze.

“Well, I’m off to the keg!” Brock yells to us more than the music. We all watch as he holds Grace’s head between his hands and kisses her forehead. “Stay close to someone, Kid,” he says and, using a wink, walks away, pulling Kelli along with him.

“And we are going more than there,” Katie says, pointing in the direction of several very cute guys. She runs her fingers via her hair and walks off with Valerie, Annabelle, Addie, Briar, and Grace, who Briar pulls along. That left me, Cash, and Kiley. Alone.

“Well,” I yell more than the music while still trying to sound casual. “We’re going… more than there,” I finish after a pause.

“Wait, don’t leave me!” Kiley yells back annoyingly.

“C’mon Rye,” Cash says. “Kiley can hang out with us tonight, can’t she?”

“Of course,” I say with what was probably the fakest smile I’ve ever made.

“Great! I’m going to get us some beers,” Cash says and walks off, leaving me standing there with probably the one person I dislike most on this beach.

“He’s such a sweetheart!” Kiley giggles. Correction: THE one person I dislike most on this beach.

“He sure is,” I answer as I try to send Cash some vibes to hurry the hell up. What seemed like an hour, but was probably closer to two minutes later, Cash returns with our beers. I took a sip and almost spit it out, it was that stale.

“Hey man,” some drunk dude slurs, obviously talking to Cash. “Your girlfriend’s bangin’!” I roll my eyes. I turn to tell the loser to go away when I realize that he’s not searching at me at all. He’s talking about Kiley.

“We’re not dating,” Cash replies using a laugh. “This is my girlfriend.” He wraps his arm around me and I smile politely.

“Oh,” the drunk guy says, clearly thinking I was a downgrade from Miss Slut more than here. “Wrong choice, man.”

I drink my entire beer in one swig. This was going to be a long night.
