The Weird Superheroes: Chapter 7 – Story
Dad! Dad! I see Michael and Clay flying in the air; fighting what looks like Pat. But why would they be fighting. Tim, Michael?s little brother, shouted in a blue van on route back to Tooele. They had been coming back from Middle Canyon after seeking for cans for recycling.
His Dad ignored him for a moment, but noticed in the back seat, his son Travis was also pointing out the window. Still not ready to appear outside the window, he continued driving.
Trying to reassure his son he commented, “Tim Pat, Clay and Michael aren?t able to fly much less fight in mid-air.” Though in the back of his mind he wasn?t sure of what he had just said himself.
“But just appear outside your window and you will see them fighting.”
To shut Tim up and to satisfy his own curiosity he finally looked out his window, and up to the sky. He almost couldn?t believe what he was seeing, but he had to. He was seeing it with his own eyes. It was like one thing out of a comic book. Michael and Clay had been fighting him, like Pat was a Super Villain.
He only got a brief glance when, suddenly small pieces of wood fell from the sky. As rapidly as he could he stuck his head into the van and rolled up the window.
“You?re right Tim. That looks just like a scene out of a comic book,” he admitted.
Tim only nodded, as they drove away from the fight up above.
Back using the two Superheroes, Muscleman was trying to catch his breath, after punch the tree into splinters.
“You okay Muscleman?” Asked Speed Demon hoping his friend wasn?t hurt.
“Yeah, I just need a couple of seconds to recover.”
Facing Scourge again he didn?t like the way his opponent looked. Huffing and puffing like and angry bull.
“You want some? Come get it!” Bellowed Speed Demon. That did it!
Pushing off from the air, like a bull would to the ground, he flew straight towards him. Speed Demon just shook his head as he moved aside, and yawned.
“You appear dirty. Looks like you need the spin cycle!” He quipped as he began to spin around him.
All the while he was spinning around him, the villain tried to appear for a way out, but to no avail. He tried to grab the hero, but ever time he struck his hand out, it got slapped back at him.
“Didn?t anyone tell you not to open the washing machine while it is running,” he teased.
Scourge growled, he was not going to let the exact same thing happen to him as before. As the spinning continued he watched for an opening, he realized it was hopeless to go that route. Searching down he saw air, not a shapeless blur but air. He then realized what he could do. Slowly he flew out from under ‘The Speed Demon’. Counting on the fact that Speed Demon was spinning too quick to notice that he wasn?t there. It worked Speed Demon was still spinning.
Suddenly he realized Scourge was no longer directly in front of him. Oh no, he thought, if he?s not in front of me or by Muscleman, then he must be behind me. As soon as he realized this, he stopped spinning and started flying towards Muscleman.
He had just reached his friend again, when he heard a rip. Searching at his arm he noticed a small tear on his left sleeve. And what looked like a 1st degree burn.
“Looks like all you did was make him mad,” Muscleman commented.
“Yeah, mad sufficient to shoot green laser beams at me!”
“Great another Super power,” Muscleman commented sarcastically.
“If we are not careful the way we fight him someone could get hurt,” Speed Demon decided.
“Agreed.”
“Let?s head towards that mountain with all the ?T? on it.”
Speed Demon nodded.
The mountain he was talking about was a mountain close to the mouth of Middle Canyon. Far away sufficient to not hurt anyone.
“Are you two done talking? So I can deliver your punishment!” He demanded.
“Yeah, we?re done talking, but you?re a have to catch us to deliver the punishment.” Muscleman called as he and Speed Demon began flying again.
They had been half way there when Speed Demon heard some thing.
“Stop. Do you hear that?” He asked his friend.
Muscleman nodded.
“Sounds like someone is blowing up a balloon,” Speed Demon suggested.
Suddenly a huge blown up fist came between the two heroes.
“Now this is just ridiculous.” Speed Demon commented pointing to the huge fist, which belonged to a slightly stretched arm of The Scourge.
“Yeah, but you?ve got to admit its kind of funny,” Muscleman chuckled.
Speed Demon shook his head he hated stupid humor.
Scourge kept trying to hit them with his enormous fist. As he tried to hit them he spoke.
“This?”
Muscleman dodging tried to listen.
“Is?”
Missing Speed Demon by a hair, he also tried to listen. There was a brief pause and Scourge stopped attacking. The two heroes had been too surprised to say or do anything. They could see though that he was out of breath. They also noticed that his fist was no longer blown up.
Catching his breath Scourge realized that using one blown up to enormous size wasn?t going to work. So generating his hands into fists he blew air into both of them, blowing them up to enormous size. Seeing this, the two heroes thought in the exact same time, oh, great not again.
Smiling Scourge began attacking and talking in the very same time again.
“All?”
“Your?”
Just missing both of them, using both fists in the exact same time The Scourge continued his rant.
“Fault!” Staring at them like a parent would to a child who had done one thing wrong.
Turning his fists sideways and bringing them together from either side, he was trying a different type of attack now. This time he thought he had them. He could see them in between his enlarged fists. Just before his two fists came together, he saw them fly out of the way.
“Why can?t you two ever stay put?!” He bellowed in both anger and sadness.
The two Super Heroes thought for a moment about what they had just heard. They had been speechless. What could he mean? They thought.
